Roadrunner Softball Complex

For the first time since 1998 the CSUB Softball Complex underwent a major renovation in the Fall of 2013 with the redesign and installation of the seating and press areas.

A new concrete concourse was installed to support a new grandstand featuring chairback seating and a permanent press box at the top.

Longtime softball benefactor Marty Whitton, whose daughter Kristy just happened to be one of the top players in CSUB history, organized the forces that made the field renovations possible. Along with his company, T.D. Whitton construction, he continues to invest his time and resources having recently laser-leveled the playing surface, restructuring the infield/outfield transition and replacing home plate.

In the summer of 2015, the field received another major renovation as the original chainlink backstop was replaced by modern netting with a support anchors located down the foul lines creating an unobstructed view for fans sitting in the grandstand. Fencing was added along the out-of-play areas and a new padded backstop was added for player safety and an asthetically pleasing look for television broadcasts.

The final piece of the renovation will include new dugouts for both home and visiting teams.
