CSUB Athletics BIO
Corey Costelloe joined the Roadrunner Athletics staff in the spring of 2011 as the Director of New Media/Broadcasting after working closely with the University externally as a local media member for eight years. Costelloe was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Communications in July of 2014.
His duties include interactive and new media, video and audio production as well as play-by-play for CSUB men's basketball and baseball through Roadrunner Sports Properties and Learfield. He also serves as the host and producer of the athletic department's television show 'Roadrunner Rundown'. Corey also handles much of the external media relations and all social media for the Roadrunners, overseeing the Athletics Communications office.
As a culminating project each year Costelloe is tasked with the production of 'The ROWDYs' the student-athlete awards show that relies heavily on multimedia elements. Along with the production of the videos and music for the event, he also serves as the event's host on awards night.
Costelloe's time at CSUB has included several firsts in the multimedia realm for the Roadrunners. He successfully oversaw the first on-campus national television broadcasts for CSUB in 2014-15 with men's soccer and men's basketball. He also serves as the liason to the WAC Digital Network ensuring CSUB contests are produced with the highest standards available. Web production and live streaming events of soccer, softball and baseball have all been done for the first time under his watch.
Prior to coming to CSUB in 2011, Costelloe worked at American General Media where he was the play-by-play voice for Roadrunners basketball since 2003. He also served as assistant program director on Newstalk 1180 KERN and program director at KGEO 1230.
From 2008-2011 Costelloe the program director and local sports talk host on ESPN 1230, overseeing the programming and day-to-day operations of the local sports station and hosting a daily local sports talk show. During his time at ESPN 1230 he covered several professional sports including the San Diego Chargers in 2010 which included week-long training camp coverage, live remotes and regular weekend coverage of the team's games in San Diego.
Along with sports, Costelloe was also a political talk show host and producer from 2003-2008 on Newstalk 1180 KERN. He ran broadcasts from the White House lawn, 2008 Presidential debates in Columbia, S.C. and the 2008 RNC Convention in Minneapolis, Minn.
While serving as voice of the Roadrunners, Costelloe has called CSUB soccer, basketball, volleyball, water polo, softball and baseball games. He enters his 14th season behind the mic for CSUB basketball in 2016.
A Tehachapi, Calif., native he also writes a weekly column 'Roadrunner Connection' in his hometown newspaper The Tehachapi News as an outreach effort for CSUB Athletics in the outlying communities of Eastern Kern County.
Costelloe attended Tehachapi High School where he was a three-sport athlete and a 1997 All-League selection as an offensive lineman for Tehachapi Football where he played for hall of fame coach Steve Denman.
A 2002 graduate of Point Loma Nazarene University in San Diego, Calif., he earned his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Journalism with a broadcast concentration. Costelloe became a CSUB alum when he completed the Master's of Public Administration program in the Spring of 2016. He currently serves as the staff representative on CSUB's Academic Support and Student Services committee, a subcommittee of the Academic Senate that addresses important issues of governance and policy recommendations. 
Costelloe is married to his wife Melissa, a Bakersfield native and CSUB alum.
