Box Score SAN FRANCISCO, Calif.—Tyonna Outland (R-Jr., Compton, Calif., Lynwood HS) led four Bakersfield players in double figures as the Roadrunners (3-5) defeated San Francisco (3-5) 85-70 in women's basketball action Wednesday night.
Both teams shot 53% in the first half, but the difference was beyond the three-point arc where the 'Runners made 6-of-12 three-point attempts compared to 1-of-4 for USF as Bakersfield took a 49-39 lead into halftime.
The Dons cut the lead to 56-52 with 15:33 remaining in the second half, but CSUB responded with a 16-4 run over the next five minutes to never look back. The Roadrunners shot an even 50% (11-of-22) for the night from three-point range. Bakersfield scored 28 points off of 13 Dons' turnovers.
Outland scored a game high 18 points. The 5-9 wing also led the team in rebounds (8) with Batabe Zempare (So., Accra, Ghana, Scottsdale Chapparal HS). Brooklynn Hinkens (Jr., Lake Tapps, Wash., Auburn-Riverside HS) posted 15 points off of the bench. Melissa Sweat (Sr., Bakersfield, Calif., Southern Oregon) charted 14 points while Dajy Vines (R-Jr., Oxnard, Calif., Santa Clara HS) had 12 points for the 'Runners.
Bakersfield travels to No. 21/22 California Sunday for a 2 p.m. tilt.
