The CSU
Bakersfield volleyball team is adding some Star power to its 2012 roster as the
Roadrunners received a National Letter of Intent from Star Tucker-Campbell, an
incoming freshman from Moorpark High School in Moorpark, Calif.
Tucker-Campbell,
who also plays for the Reef Volleyball Club, stands at 5-foot-9 and will be a
middle/right side player for the Roadrunners.
"We are
looking forward to having her on the team because she has a very joyful
attitude and is eager to learn," said CSUB head coach Jolene Shepardson. "She
is a very fluid athlete that can play any position."
In her
senior year in the fall of 2011 at Moorpark, Tucker-Campbell recorded 83 kills,
37 total blocks and 28 digs in her senior season as the playoff-qualifying
Musketeers went 18-13.
Tucker-Campbell
was a late bloomer in the game of volleyball and only began playing volleyball
in eighth grade. Basketball was still her first priority until she joined Reef
and volleyball became her No. 1 sport. She became a popular target for
recruiting and had offers from schools like Long Beach State, Boise State and
the University of Rochester before she decided to become a Roadrunner.
Tucker-Campbell's
strong sports background consisting of basketball and track and field
experience makes her a versatile athlete with powerful jumping skills.
Tucker-Campbell
becomes the fourth player to ink a National Letter of Intent to join the
'Runners for the 2012 season in joining Yuan Fu, Kelsee Sawyer and Tamar
Fowler.
